Letter to Parents 17 September 2021

Dear Parents / Carers

Welcome

Firstly, I would like to welcome back our existing children and their families. We have had lots of new starters since we returned from the summer break and I would like to extend a warm welcome to all children and parents joining us for the first time. The children both new and existing have settled in well and are engaging in the fun activities.

Illness

We will continue to operate in the same way with regard to Covid-19 and where a child presents with symptoms, you will be required to collect your child and arrange for a Covid-19 test. If a child is unwell with other symptoms, you will also be asked to collect and monitor them.

If you need to administer Calpol / Nurofen to your child before sending them in to nursery then please do not send them in. If they require pain relief then they are not well enough to be in nursery. Many thanks for your co-operation.

Masks

Masks will remain optional for all at drop off and collection, however any parents/visitors coming into the Nursery setting will be asked to wear a mask.

We strongly encourage all non-vaccinated parents/visitors to wear masks on site particularly during busy times.

Covid Cases

I am pleased to confirm that we have had no positive cases reported from children or staff in the Nursery. Hopefully if we continue to err on the side of caution this will remain the case.

Primary School Applications

If your child was born between 1 September 2017 and 31 August 2018 they will be due to transfer to primary school in September 2022. Places are not issued automatically and an application must be submitted online to Milton Keynes Council, www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/schooladmissions

The application portal is now live and it is imperative that you apply for your child in good time and before the strict deadline of Saturday 15 January 2022. We had some families last year who missed the deadline and were not allocated a place at TPA. The school currently has a waiting list of 15 children just for Reception so please complete your application ASAP. If you need any assistance with the process then please speak to one of the ladies in the Atrium.

Tapestry

Ensuring that we track and monitor the progress of each child’s development is of paramount importance. To support us to achieve this we use an assessment programme called Tapestry which is a secure online learning journal.

We have a number of parents who are not yet set up on Tapestry, therefore we have used parental email addresses provided for the purpose of setting up parental access to your child’s Tapestry online learning journal. I am delighted to inform you that the emails have now all been added to the website and you should shortly receive an activation email. Once you have received the email you will need to follow the steps on the attached sheet in order to activate your account.

Once your account has been activated you will be able to see your child’s observations and photos of their time whilst at the Nursery. You will also be able to upload any photos or notes of what your child has been doing at home. This is an excellent way to share your child’s learning with their key person.

This is a fantastic tool and I am sure that you will find it of great benefit. However should you require any further support with accessing your child’s Tapestry online learning journal or you have not received your activation email then please speak to Nicola.

End Of The Day Collection

In order to ease congestion we will continue to open the gates at 3.10pm. This is a window for arrival between 3.10pm and 3.20pm.

Please ensure that you collect your nursery child before collecting any school children. Once you have collected your nursery child you must then go up the stairs and across the playground to the classrooms to collect your school children. School children MUST NOT enter the nursery site at any time. Thank you.

Nursery Places

We are currently taking bookings at the Nursery for children who are eligible to join us. If you have a child or know of someone who does, aged two or over, and would like them to join our Nursery, or your child already attends and you wish to increase their sessions, please speak to Nicola in the Atrium for more details.

Please note that spaces get booked up very quickly and will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis.

Last Day of Learning Block 2

Finally, we would like to remind you that the last day of Learning Block 2 is Friday 1 October. We close for one week and re-open on Monday 11 October.

Nursery holiday dates for 2021-2022 and 2022 – 2023 can be collected from the Atrium or viewed online at www.eatonmillnursery.co.uk.

Letter to Parents 3 September 2021

Dear Parents / Carers

Welcome Back!

I hope that you have managed to have a great summer despite the weather! We are really looking forward to welcoming all our children and families back to nursery from Monday.

Arrangements From Monday 6 September

As you know, EMW is a separate organisation to The Premier Academy (TPA), however, as it shares its premises with TPA the Nursery Directors have determined that EMW will operate with the same protocols as TPA.

For anyone new to the Nursery, throughout the pandemic we have operated in line with TPA’s protocols and erred on the side of caution at every step. This approach has meant that we have been able to keep the Nursery open with no Covid infections in staff or children coming from the setting.

With what is happening currently in Scotland with the re-opening of schools and nurseries and the fact that we have a holiday at the beginning of October, I am sure that you will agree that the sensible approach is to watch what happens elsewhere and continue to be proactive instead of reactive.

Letter to Parents 16 July 2021

Dear Parents / Carers

End of Year

What a year! I would just like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to you all for your continued support during what has been, let’s face it, a shocking time. However, we have all made the best of it and the children have been fantastic in keeping us all going.

School Readiness Programme

The reintroduction on the School Readiness Programme for all children starting TPA in September 2021 has been a great success. Since returning after the June holiday, the children who are joining TPA have spent their time in the Reception classrooms with teachers and teachings assistants from TPA and nursery staff. Over the last six weeks the new TPA children who stayed for lunch transitioned from eating their lunch in the classrooms to now eating in Eat’n’Hall dining room in preparation for September. They took to it ‘like ducks to water’ and are well prepared for their first day at TPA.

Big School

We have 64 children leaving the Nursery to go up to ‘big school’. We are sad to say goodbye to so many wonderful children and families, however the majority are moving locally in to TPA and we know that they will be in the best hands.

Of those 64, I’d like to give a special mention to 4 children who will be leaving us to go to other schools in Milton Keynes; some of whom have been with us since they were babies. Yes, we once had a baby room! You have all been superstars and I have no doubt that you will flourish in your new schools. Don’t forget us and if you ever feel like checking in then please feel free to email us, anytime!

We wish you all the best and for those moving to TPA, don’t forget to say hi when you see us moving around the Academy.

What A Team!

I am sure that you will all join me in saying a huge ‘thank you’ to the Nursery team. Our staff have all been working exceptionally hard during a very difficult time. They have worked tirelessly to ensure that the children have a safe and secure environment and above all a fun time. With all of this in place, the learning comes naturally and it has been wonderful to see the children grow and develop over the past year.

So ‘well done team’ – your dedication and efforts are very much appreciated.

Reports

You should, by now, have received your child’s summer term report. If you child has not attended nursery yesterday or today, then their report has been posted out to you this evening.

This is a new look report from those previously generated through Tapestry and this is in readiness for some changes brought in by the government effective from September. Please let us know what you think.

Primary School Applications

If your child was born between 1 September 2017 and 31 August 2018, they will be due to transfer to primary school in September 2022. Places are not issued automatically, and an application must be submitted online to Milton Keynes Council at www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/schooladmissions

As soon as the application portal goes live in September, we will let you know as it is imperative that you apply for your child’s place in good time and before the strict deadline. We have had some families this year who missed the deadline and were not allocated their first-choice place at TPA.

 Nursery Places

We are currently taking bookings at the Nursery for children who are eligible to join us. If you have a child aged two or over and you would like them to join our Nursery, or your child already attends and you wish to increase their sessions, please email admin@eatonmillnursery.co.uk for more details.

Please note that spaces get booked up very quickly and will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis.

Goodbyes

Sadly, today we say goodbye to Martina and Shefa. Martina joined us in January 2018 to work in our baby room. Shefa joined us in March 2017 and has worked across both the Hedgehogs and Squirrels rooms and more latterly in the school readiness room to assist with the transition from nursery to school. Both are moving in different directions and I am sure that you will all join me in wishing them well in their future endeavours.

Last Day Of Learning Block 1

The last day of Learning Block 1 is today. We will close for the summer break and we re-open on Monday 6 September.

Finally, I hope that you and your family have a fantastic summer and have a well-deserved rest.

Take care and stay safe.
