Letter to Parents 17 September 2021
Dear Parents / Carers
Firstly, I would like to welcome back our existing children and their families. We have had lots of new starters since we returned from the summer break and I would like to extend a warm welcome to all children and parents joining us for the first time. The children both new and existing have settled in well and are engaging in the fun activities.
We will continue to operate in the same way with regard to Covid-19 and where a child presents with symptoms, you will be required to collect your child and arrange for a Covid-19 test. If a child is unwell with other symptoms, you will also be asked to collect and monitor them.
If you need to administer Calpol / Nurofen to your child before sending them in to nursery then please do not send them in. If they require pain relief then they are not well enough to be in nursery. Many thanks for your co-operation.
Masks will remain optional for all at drop off and collection, however any parents/visitors coming into the Nursery setting will be asked to wear a mask.
We strongly encourage all non-vaccinated parents/visitors to wear masks on site particularly during busy times.
I am pleased to confirm that we have had no positive cases reported from children or staff in the Nursery. Hopefully if we continue to err on the side of caution this will remain the case.
Primary School Applications
If your child was born between 1 September 2017 and 31 August 2018 they will be due to transfer to primary school in September 2022. Places are not issued automatically and an application must be submitted online to Milton Keynes Council, www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/schooladmissions
The application portal is now live and it is imperative that you apply for your child in good time and before the strict deadline of Saturday 15 January 2022. We had some families last year who missed the deadline and were not allocated a place at TPA. The school currently has a waiting list of 15 children just for Reception so please complete your application ASAP. If you need any assistance with the process then please speak to one of the ladies in the Atrium.
Ensuring that we track and monitor the progress of each child’s development is of paramount importance. To support us to achieve this we use an assessment programme called Tapestry which is a secure online learning journal.
We have a number of parents who are not yet set up on Tapestry, therefore we have used parental email addresses provided for the purpose of setting up parental access to your child’s Tapestry online learning journal. I am delighted to inform you that the emails have now all been added to the website and you should shortly receive an activation email. Once you have received the email you will need to follow the steps on the attached sheet in order to activate your account.
Once your account has been activated you will be able to see your child’s observations and photos of their time whilst at the Nursery. You will also be able to upload any photos or notes of what your child has been doing at home. This is an excellent way to share your child’s learning with their key person.
This is a fantastic tool and I am sure that you will find it of great benefit. However should you require any further support with accessing your child’s Tapestry online learning journal or you have not received your activation email then please speak to Nicola.
End Of The Day Collection
In order to ease congestion we will continue to open the gates at 3.10pm. This is a window for arrival between 3.10pm and 3.20pm.
Please ensure that you collect your nursery child before collecting any school children. Once you have collected your nursery child you must then go up the stairs and across the playground to the classrooms to collect your school children. School children MUST NOT enter the nursery site at any time. Thank you.
We are currently taking bookings at the Nursery for children who are eligible to join us. If you have a child or know of someone who does, aged two or over, and would like them to join our Nursery, or your child already attends and you wish to increase their sessions, please speak to Nicola in the Atrium for more details.
Please note that spaces get booked up very quickly and will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis.
Last Day of Learning Block 2
Finally, we would like to remind you that the last day of Learning Block 2 is Friday 1 October. We close for one week and re-open on Monday 11 October.
Nursery holiday dates for 2021-2022 and 2022 – 2023 can be collected from the Atrium or viewed online at www.eatonmillnursery.co.uk.
