Letter to Parents 17 March 2020
As you know, EMW is a separate organisation to TPA however, as it shares its premises with TPA the Directors have determined that EMW will operate with the same protocols during this unprecedented time.
We have 30.1% of children either ill or in isolation across the morning and afternoon sessions. Please do not worry as this will not affect their attendance record, however it would be really helpful if you could contact the Nursery as soon as possible to let us know if you are isolating and if so, for how many days.
As previously reported, we have tightened up our procedures for allowing staff and children onsite. When your child has had a cough or a cold in the past, we have administered Calpol and monitored them. We will no longer operate like this during this pandemic. Therefore, if you or your child suffers with any kind of temperature, cough or cold then please DO NOT attend. If these symptoms develop during the day amongst staff or children, they will be isolated and in the event of it being a child their parent will be contacted immediately which is why it is incredibly important that we have your up-to-date information and that you keep your phones with you and on at all times. We had difficulty contacting a couple of parents yesterday so if you have changed your details and have not let us know, please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org as a matter of urgency.
All parents and visitors in to the Nursery are being asked to use the hand sanitisers provided.
Additional Nursery Precautions
We have disabled all of our water fountains.
If you choose to continue to send your child to nursery then we need you to provide your child with a named drinking vessel from tomorrow. Please note that only water is permitted in the Nursery.
Parent’s Stay And Play
Unfortunately it has become necessary to cancel our ‘Stay and Play’ sessions until further notice. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Hungry Little Minds
Hungry Little Minds is the new Department of Education campaign that encourages parents and carers to adopt positive activities and behaviours to boost children’s communication, language and literacy development.
I have attached the link https://hungrylittleminds.campaign.gov.uk as I think it will be a really useful tool for parents it aims to help parents understand that they have a massive impact on the child’s learning. Reading, playing and chatting with them are simple things they can do to help them develop, even when they are too young to say much back. Parents can access tips and activities ranging from 0 – 5 years of age.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to speak to me.
Why Are We Not Already Closed?
The UK government is taking a different tack to the majority of the world and we are still non-the-wiser as to why. We hope that Boris Johnson and Chris Witty will provide further explanation at their daily briefing later today.
As things change I will update you.
Thank you for your cooperation at this taxing time.
