Letter To Parents: 4 October 2019
Learning Block 2
I cannot believe how quickly this learning block has flown by! We have had lots of new children join us and we would like to welcome all children and parents who are joining us for the first time.
People who Help Us
To coincide with our theme ‘People Who Help Us’, on Friday 20 September two local police officers came in to the Nursery to talk to the children. All children had the opportunity to talk to the officers and dress up as a police officer. A fabulous time was had by all and if you would like to see some photos from the day just log in to your Tapestry account. If you need any assistance with logging in to Tapestry then please do not hesitate to speak to one of the ladies in the Atrium.
Primary School Applications
If your child was born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016 they will be due to transfer to primary school in September 2020. Places are not issued automatically and an application must be submitted online to Milton Keynes Council at www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/schooladmissions
The application portal is live and it is imperative that you apply for your child in good time and before the strict deadline of 15 January 2020. We had some families last year who missed the deadline and were not allocated a place at TPA. The school currently has a waiting list of 24 children just for Reception so please complete your application ASAP. If you need any assistance with the process then please speak to one of the ladies in the Atrium.
Parent ‘Stay And Learn’ Session
Expanding on our ‘Stay and Play’ sessions I am delighted to inform you that we will be holding ‘Stay and Learn’ sessions for parents on Tuesday 29 October 2019 and Friday 1 November 2019. Our theme will be ‘Early Maths’ and there will be lots of fun activities available. This will be a fantastic opportunity to see how your child begins to develop the building blocks of maths. Please note that both days are open to parents / carers / grandparents or any other significant adult.
We hope that you can join us and look forward to seeing you there. If you are unable to make either day and would like to join us for a ‘Stay and Learn’ session on another day, please speak to Jo in the Atrium to arrange a suitable time.

I thought that I would take this opportunity to remind you that the Nursery photographer will be with us on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 October 2019 to take children’s individual photos as well as photos of nursery and school age siblings; so don’t forget to bring your biggest smiles with you on these days.
Parent Contact Week
Parent Contact Week is an ideal opportunity for you to meet with your child’s key person, to discuss your child’s progress and the targets that they are working towards.
Therefore, we will be holding parent consultations as follows:
|Week Beginning 4 November 2019||HEDGEHOGS|
|Weeks Beginning 11 & 25 November 2019||SQUIRRELS|
Letters will be sent out to the Hedgehogs on Monday 21 October and letters will follow for the Squirrels on Monday 28 October which will enable parents to book a slot. Our goal is to meet with 100% of parents so please ensure that you speak to your child’s key person should there be any difficulties in making an appointment.
We are currently taking bookings at the Nursery for children who are eligible to join us. If you have a child aged two or over and you would like them to join our Nursery, or your child already attends and you wish to increase their sessions, please speak to Nicola in the Atrium for more details.
Please note that spaces get booked up very quickly and will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis.
Toys From Home
I would like to remind parents that children are not permitted to bring toys from home in to the Nursery. This is because we cannot guarantee that all items are suitable for the setting. Additionally, when items are brought in, we need to take them from the child which can cause unnecessary upset. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.
Last Day of Learning Block 2
Finally, we would like to remind you that today is the last day of Learning Block 2. We close for one week and re-open on Monday 14 October 2019.
Nursery holiday dates for 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 can be collected from the Atrium or viewed online at www.eatonmillnursery.co.uk.
