Letter To Parents: 1 December 2017
Primary School Applications
If your child was born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014 they will be due to transfer to primary school in September 2018. Places are not issued automatically and an application must be submitted online to Milton Keynes Council (Link), the deadline is Monday 15 January 2018.
Each year we request that parents complete a questionnaire about the Nursery. Your opinions and comments really do make a difference and ensure that all children continue to receive the best experience possible whilst at the Nursery. Please complete the attached confidential questionnaire and return it in the envelope provided as soon as possible and definitely by Wednesday 13 December 2017 at the latest.
We are busy preparing lots of fabulous experiences for the children to take place throughout December. Please look out for the letter coming shortly containing a list of important dates for your diary and more information on the activities which will be taking place during the festive period.

There has been an increase in buggies being left on the premises in recent weeks whilst children are attending the Nursery. Unfortunately we simply do not have the space to store buggies for parents. Those left at the front of the Atrium are blocking a fire exit and are therefore causing a very serious health and safety hazard. With this in mind we ask that all parents take their children’s buggies home with them and bring them back at the end of the session.
If we can afford it we will attempt to create a buggy park in the New Year.
Food And Snacks In Nursery
We would like to remind parents that we provide all snacks, food and drinks for children whilst they are attending their sessions at Nursery and therefore no food and drink of any sort should be put into children’s bags even if it is to be consumed after your child has been collected. Thank you for your support with this matter.
Let’s Talk Pants (The Underwear Rule)
We will be discussing The Underwear Rule at Nursery with the children. ‘Talking PANTS’ (The Underwear Rule) teaches children important messages, like their body belongs to them and they should tell an adult if they are upset or worried. If you wish to learn more about The Underwear Rule and complete activities at home with your child please use the following link; https://www.nspcc.org.uk/preventing-abuse/keeping-children-safe/underwear-rule/.
Nursery Closures Nationwide
As you may be aware there have been over 1000 nurseries close during the past twelve months and all are citing the reason that the amount the Government gives them for the free child places isn’t enough. There are other nurseries which are now refusing to offer free childcare places for the same reasons. As a consequence we are taking lots of calls for places so if you have a child, or you know someone locally who is looking for a nursery then now would be good time to enrol them as we do work on a first come first served basis.
End of Learning Block
Finally, we would like to remind you that the Nursery closes on Friday 22 December for the Christmas break. We return to the Nursery on Monday 8 January 2018.
Holiday Club will be not be operating during the Christmas break.
Nursery holiday dates for 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 can be collected from the Atrium or viewed online at www.eatonmillnursery.co.uk.
